ACCIONA Infrastrucutres works in the area of eco-efficient buildings with the maximum possible use of solar technologies. The most notable example is the headquarters of ACCIONA Solar in Navarra.

The building consumes 52% less energy than a conventional building with the same characteristics, as a result of the application of a large number of energy efficient and energy saving measures, meeting 48% of energy requirements with photovoltaic solar energy (electricity), thermal energy (heating) and biodiesel.

More specifically, it provides 44% of the energy consumption used in heating and 42% of the consumption used in electricity, while the rest of the energy requirements are met with renewable energies.

Therefore, the building receives 110 kW from solar thermal panels and 70 and 10 kW from absorption machines for the heating and cooling of the building, 50 kW from photovoltaic solar installations, has one geothermal installation for underground control and uses biodiesel in the back-up boiler instead of fossil fuels.

Other eco-efficient points of construction of note include the radiant under floor and roof heating to distribute hot and cold air for the air conditioning and heating, control systems and monitoring of the building, ventilated façades and highly effective insulation, in addition to the architecture which is adapted to the orientation of the different façades.

This enables it to become a Zero emissions building, meeting its energy requirements without producing CO2 emissions.
